SIERRA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
JEFFCO PUBLIC SCHOOLS
This project comprised a major 50,000-SF addition to replace the original Sierra Elementary School as well as the renovation of part of the existing building.
The addition included an expansion of the existing cafeteria, a new STEM-focused library/media center, a new art room, and 30 classrooms for grades K-5 with support spaces. The circulation to the new building ties to the main corridor of the existing building. Through a collaborative effort with the school’s Design Advisory Group, MOA learned that all grade levels experienced a high level of parent volunteerism on a daily basis. MOA designed breakout spaces that encourage small group and personalized learning, remaining flexible for multiple uses during any given school day. The casework and pods create grade level identity and create meaningful community partnerships.
