TURNER HALL RENOVATION
UNIVERSITY OF NORTHERN COLORADO
Originally built in 1968, the renovation of the 13-story dormitory began with a facilities assessment to determine infrastructure needs for the facility.
Based on systems life expectancy and life-cycle analysis, the team concluded full HVAC, plumbing and electrical distribution were required to meet the long term needs of the University. Additional updates included new dorm room configurations and finishes, lighting, and technology improvements. Resident life improvements included new student lounges, a central lobby, study areas, and recreational facilities. Natural lighting was increased on the resident floors giving the building a new sense of warmth. A new student lounge replaced the old Resident Assistant (RA) apartment, and the front desk and lobby were completely redesigned and renovated to provide better visibility in the effort to increase security and resident comfort.
