16 & Chestnut
Size: 637,700 sf
Viewed in the context of the Denver skyline, 16 Chestnut will be an elegant addition with its sharp, clean architecture and simple lines. The massing is subtle, with a strong, distinct base and glazed curtain-wall tower to the south. The simplicity of this façade creates a strong interaction between 16 Chestnut and the Millennium Bridge. The curtain-wall peels away at the 16th and Chestnut corner, highlighting the main entry and creating a striking image when viewed from the 16th Street Mall and against the context of the Millennium Bridge. The curtain-wall tower is juxtaposed with a mix of transparent glazing and solid precast mass at the podium levels to the north, east and west facades. Transparency is highlighted at the 17th and Chestnut corner, opening the building onto the 17th Street Promenade and creating a strong entry identity at this most important corner. The second level sky lobby with its dynamic transparent glazing along Chestnut Street highlights the activities and energy within the building.
