MOA Wyoming Welcomes New Principal!


MOA is pleased to announce that industry veteran Chet Lockard has merged his company, Project Guide Services, with the firm’s Wyoming office. Under the direction of Lockard, MOA will have a greater presence in the state, with offices now in both Casper and Laramie.

“MOA Architecture has been among the most respected and trusted architectural firms in the Rocky Mountain region for more than 35 years, and has established a strong presence in Wyoming since 2010,” said Lockard. “The merger of PGS with MOA Architecture will provide clients with a seamless approach, with creative solutions and stopgap measures to ensure that the design and construction of their projects happen in the most timely and cost-effective way possible.”

MOA received a research facilities design award from the Design Build Institute of America for the Bioscience 2 Medical Research Laboratory and Academic Facility on the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.

MOA Designs First-of-Its-Kind Film Center

Night View Option 2 no elkWorking with the historic Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado, MOA designed the Stanley Film Center, the world’s first horror themed museum, film archive and movie studio set. The $24 million, 43,000 sq. ft. Film Center will include multiple indoor and outdoor entertainment venues including a 500-seat auditorium, an interactive museum and discovery center, (with over 30,000 sq. ft. of program space) featuring rotating exhibits such as The Walking Dead, a 3,000 sq. ft. sound stage, classrooms and workshop spaces, and cutting-edge post-production and editing suites, all with views of Rocky Mountain National Park and located on the grounds of the iconic hotel.

Stanley Film Center02The project is part of an application for funding through the State of Colorado’s Regional Tourism Act, for which the project is seeking $11.5 million in film center generated state sales tax financing to fill a funding gap.

The Stanley Film Center has received numerous film and exhibit commitments from some of the biggest names in the genre including Charlie Aldard, creator of with The Walking Dead, 7-time academy award winner Rick Baker famous for his work on films like Men in Black, X-Men and The Nutty Professor and Director and Producer Clive Barker. It is expected to draw hundreds of thousands of film fans, industry leaders, aspiring artists and students from the around United States and world. MOA is thrilled to be a part of such a unique venture!

MOA ARCHITECTURE Wins International Design Competition Award!!

Best Architectural Concept
NASA Mars 3-D Printed Habitat Challenge

Award BestinClass Arch ConceptSelected as one of 30 Top Finalists to be judged and presented at the World Maker Faire in New York City in late September, MOA ARCHITECTURE was awarded the Best Architectural Concept for our submission to the NASA 3-D Printed Habitat Challenge. The design competition challenged participants to develop state-of-art architectural concepts that take advantage of the unique capabilities 3-D printing offers to imagine what habitats on Mars might look like using this technology and in-situ resources. Our vision was able to come to life with the the help of All Copy Products’ 3D printer and 3D printing expertise. It was great partnering with such an amazing company!

The design competition attracted more than 165 participants including submissions from the European Space Agency (Europe’s equivalent of NASA) and Foster + Partners, an internationally renowned design firm from London. The 30 highest-scoring entries were judged and displayed at the Maker Faire event. Teams were judged on many factors, including architectural concept, design approach, habitability, innovation, functionality, Mars site selection and 3-D print constructability. The design competition is the first phase of the 3-D Printed Habitat Challenge, which seeks to foster the development of new technologies necessary to additively manufacture a habitat using local indigenous materials with, or without, recyclable materials, in space and on Earth.
