The academic program for this room was to transform it into a multi-purpose room to include live performance and recitals, as well as its traditional use as a classroom. The space is immediately adjacent to Grusin Hall, the primary performance theater space in the building.
The space needed to be completely sound isolated from Grusin Hall. To accomplish this, the design acted as an acoustical “box within a box.” The space itself was outfitted with sound and acoustical attenuation systems which result in a state of the art performance space within the academic environment of the College of Music at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
