DaVita Awarded LEED Gold Certification

Image #47 DaVita Site Studiy
The DaVita World Headquarters Building was awarded LEED Gold Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. Located in the Denver Union Station transportation hub, this 450,000 square foot office building is convenient to nearly anywhere in the city within a few steps from the building entrance. Plumbing and Mechanical systems provide more than 30% reduction in energy and water usage while low VOC coatings, sealants and finishes used enhanced indoor environmental health. Also incorporated were sustainably harvested wood products that are formaldehyde free, and concrete in the building was formulated to offset cement content with fly ash, diverting material from entering landfills. Construction waste management resulted in 75% of material being diverted from landfills to recycling; everything from steel to concrete and wood and papers to plastics.

The LEED rating system is the foremost program for buildings that are designed, constructed, maintained and operated for improved environmental and human health performance. Congratulations to DaVita for their visionary leadership to pursue LEED Certification.
